Open your heart to the earth
Step one: Start your morning with a cup of mindfulness (tea)
I choose to start my morning with a hot cup of tea. The cup's warmth brings me comfort, especially on a rainy day. As a full-time student on the go, making sure I can enjoy a cup of tea before tacking my day sets a peaceful tone for me to go off of. Drinking tea became regular for me during the pandemic while I was experiencing anxiety anytime I had to leave home. I found that ginger tea was very calming. Since integrating this step into my morning routine, my stress levels have been reduced. Something as small as a cup of tea can encourage your mind, body, and spirit to connect with your environment.
Step two: Meditation
One day, I woke up and realized that a million voices in my head never seemed to quiet down. I often need to speak to my heart without my mind overwhelming me with different thoughts. Taking a deep breath helps me reach the silence I need at times. Living in a controlled society where the human mind and body are suffering, I want to find harmony within myself, which we all deserve. I believe that at least 15-20 minutes of deep breathing brings the silence that holds the clarity needed to move from one state to another. Humans take on a handful of systemic responsibilities. We forget to be responsible for our temples (bodies) that ground us with Earth.
Step three: Create Unity
Most of my inspiration comes from my peers. I try to be deeply involved with my community by checking in, applauding accomplishments, and spending quality time. To be present on Earth, I think being a community is essential. Before colonialism, many indigenous practices revolved around a deep connection with the environment, and through Unity, people achieved health and harmony. Unfortunately, we have shifted away from indigenous practices causing division, but once we learn to come back to one another with love, we can shut down the systemic world system.
